Middleberg, Shelley Glazer “Mimi” of New Orleans passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends on September 24, 2018. Shelley is survived by her sons Benjamin (Lauren) & Aaron (Kelley) Middleberg, her three grandchildren, Aiden, Atlas and Harrison Middleberg, her sister Carole Jacobson and brother Jay Glazer. Shelley was born in Knoxville, TN on May 1, 1950 to the late Louis and Lillian Glazer and moved to New Orleans as a child. Shelley was a lover of the arts and spent over twenty years working in various roles at the Contemporary Arts Center. She was an early resident of the Warehouse District and could often be found wearing one of her many bright scarves at any one of the neighborhood establishments. She was president of the Louis A. and Lillian L. Glazer Family Foundation which continues to support the arts, Jewish and nondenominational philanthropic organizations. She loved her family and countless friends who will dearly miss her warmth and friendship.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Beth Israel Synagogue 4004 West Esplanade, Metairie at noon on Wednesday, September 26th with graveside service to follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens (Shir Chadash section), 11316 River Road in St. Rose, LA. A gathering will be held in Shelley’s apartment following the graveside service; visitors will also be welcome September 27-28.
