Scott Cathcart Hill, age 70, passed away on April 24, 2018. Born October 6, 1947 to Capt. and Mrs. Charles E. Hill. He was raised in New Orleans, graduated from Fortier High School in 1965 and Loyola University in 1969. Brother of Charlen Hill Resseguet Womack, Uncle of Brett Resseguet Jenkins, Renee Resseguet Verver, Danielle Resseguet and the late Michelle Resseguet Keiser. Nephew of Abbie Ann Adam of Madisonville, La, and the late Capt. Roy L. Cathcart, Capt. Gerald C. Hill, and Capt. Bernard M. Cathcart. Preceded in death by his beloved dog, Winston (Winnie). Scott loved to travel, loved laughter even with his quiet nature however music was his love. Scotty knew no boundaries, black, white, brown, straight or gay. He loved everyone. If they could cook or play music they were extra special. From the time he played in the Fortier band he was in love with music. Mr. Peter Doumborian was his idle, after Fortier it was on to Loyola University where he got his degree in music. Scotty’s love of music has taken him on many adventures. He was an accomplished and well know musician. Playing with many well known artists such as Ellis Marsalis at Carnegie Hall, Ella Fitzgerald, Vince Vance, Theresa Brewer among others. His love and talent in music took him to France by invitation many times to play in concerts. Scotty was a regular at Preservation Hall where he played with the best Jazz musicians. He later formed his own French Market Jazz Band, who performed locally. Scotty was a New Orleans historian who loved New Orleans dearly and studied everything he could on the City of New Orleans. Scotty , just a closer walk with thee. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, 3412 Haring Road, Metairie, LA. at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 1:30 pm. Inurnment in Lake Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Association. Arrangements by Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd. Information 504-835-2341.
