Nick August Matrana, 96, passed away in his sleep on August 1, 2021. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn Louise Landry Matrana and his dear son, Michael James Matrana. He is survived by two loving sons, Richard Wayne Matrana (adoring wife, Becca Cline) and Barry Allen Matrana; four devoted daughters, Barbara Anne Matrana, Susan Mary Matrana, Lisa Marie Matrana and Bonnie Matrana Ostarly (A.J.); two treasured granddaughters, Kimberly Ostarly Tadlock (Shane) and Lexie Ostarly Schaubhut (Rodney), proud father-in-law of A.J. Ostarly Jr. and soon to be adored great grandson, Riley August Tadlock. He was the son of the late Frank Matrana, Josephine Hingle Matrana Prestenberg, and step-father, Elmore F. Prestenberg, Brother of Leverda Richard, Frank Matrana Jr., Camille Matrana, Sr., Jenell Moreau, Dolores Constant, Daniel Matrana, Anthony Matrana and the late, Edna Mae Prestenberg Shoemaker, Sadie Prestenberg Shuey, Ethel Johnson, Emmadelle Rodriguez, Evangeline Richard, Beverly Soileau and Stella Landry. He was a native of New Orleans, longtime resident of Old Jefferson and a parishioner at St. Agnes Church. Nick proudly served as a medic in the US Army and spent 40 years as a comptroller at International House. He will be deeply missed by his loving family. The family would like to thank Angelle Russo of Monogram Health for her committed pre-hospice care and the staff at Heart of Hospice, Especially Elizabeth Schaeffer and Jermaine Charles for their dedicated care over the last few months. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 3310 Jefferson Hwy, Jefferson, LA on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 10:00 am with gathering starting at 9:00 am. A private inurnment will take place at Cypress Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart of Hospice or St. Agnes Church Capital Improvements.
