Tribute

James Preston “Jim” Dorman Jr. 92, of Metairie, passed away on April 10, 2022. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden passing. James was born on August 23, 1929 to the late James Preston Dorman and Hattie Belle Lingo in Metairie, LA.    
He was the brother of the late Geraldine Dorman Cox, and the late Harry Earl Dorman. James was the beloved husband of the late Yvonne B. Dorman. He was the loving father of Rosemary Wise (Brian), and James Dorman, III. James was the proud grandfather of Melissa Celtunos (Atrum) and great-grandfather to Rohan Celtunos. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, cousins, and friends. 
He was a hard worker and worked for many years in the tugboat business working for Bisso & Son. He loved talking about his crewmates and working them as a tugboat engineer.
James was a long-time member of Metairie Lodge and Crescent City Lodge where he rose through the ranks to eventually become a Master Mason. He was also a member of the Shriners and Good Ole’ Boys of Metairie James will be remembered for his loving-kindness, dedication to helping others succeed, and devotion for his family and lodge brothers.
The family will have a Visitation at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, LA 70001 on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, from 10 am until 12 pm. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, an organization James felt strongly about.
