Florence Bolton (Suge) was born on March 23, 1934 to the union of Willie and Leoria Harper Gaston in Utica, Miss. She was one of 12 children, six brothers and six sisters. She was married to the late Clarence Bolton Jr. From that union was born one son, Morlease K. Bolton (K.B.).
Sister Bolton was an active church member before leaving her home. She served as an usher at the Belmont Baptist Church where she was baptized at an early age. After leaving her hometown she relocated in New Orleans, LA where she joined the New Zion Traveler Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Lee Band. While there she was the president of the senior choir and later organized the junior choir. Sister Bolton later was called by God to proclaim the gospel of Jesus where she carried out these duties at the True Church of God in Christ for 25 years under the leadership of the Bishop Lilly Armstrong in Boutte, LA.
After Bishop Armstrong’s death she quickly joined the Spring M.B.C. N.O.L.A under the leadership of Pastor James Jasmin. Sister Bolton served until she was called home.
She leaves to mourn her son, Morlease, daughter-in-law, Jennifer, daughter-in-heart, Tania, three granddaughters, Zeneida (Chichi), Juliana (Moomoo), Mabel (Spanky); sisters, Minnie P. Clark, of Lloyd, IL and baby sister, Edna (Melvin) Given, of New Orleans, LA.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers, Mrs. Annette Davis,
Mrs. Doshie M. Wilson, Mrs. Frances E. Hunt, Roosevelt, Henry Lee, Mack, James, Elijah and Joseph. She also leaves to mourn a host of relatives, nieces, nephews; uncle George Gaston, 4 god-daughters, Deborah William, Deborah Armstrong Hall, Rnyshah Johnson, Shannda Ubank, godson, Will Spears, spiritual godson, James Despenza and friends.
A visitation will take place at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd, Metairie, LA 70001 on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm. Interment will be private. At Sister Bolton's request, there will be no repass.
